Academic Policies

Graduation Policies

At Otis College of Art and Design, the academic policies are designed to support students' educational journey and ensure they meet the requirements for graduation. To graduate, students must complete all required coursework, maintain a minimum GPA as specified by their program, and fulfill any additional departmental requirements. The college conducts degree audits to verify that students are on track to graduate, and students must apply for graduation by the specified deadline to be eligible to participate in commencement ceremonies.

Transfer Credits

Transfer credits are carefully evaluated by Otis College to ensure they align with the institution's academic standards. Students seeking to transfer credits from other accredited institutions must provide official transcripts and course descriptions for review. The college may accept transfer credits for courses that are equivalent to those offered at Otis, typically with a grade of 'C' or better. However, there is a limit to the number of transfer credits that can be applied toward degree requirements, and some programs may have specific restrictions on which courses can be transferred.

Enrollment and Registration

Enrollment and registration policies at Otis College are structured to provide flexibility while ensuring students progress steadily toward their degrees. Students are required to register for classes each semester by the published deadlines and must meet with their academic advisors to ensure they are enrolling in the appropriate courses. The college also has policies in place for course add/drop periods, withdrawal, and leave of absence. Additionally, other academic policies cover areas such as academic integrity, attendance, grading, and student conduct, all of which are designed to maintain a fair and rigorous academic environment.
