From the Roadside to the Future captures the cultural legacy of Googie—a bold, futuristic style rooted in mid-century roadside signage and Space Age optimism. Inspired by its visual language, I created the Googie Typeface Family—six original typefaces that reimagine Googie forms in a contemporary typographic context. Through curated showcases, the book explores their versatile applications across branding, print, and digital platforms.

Building on the Googie Typeface Family, I created Googie Type Club—a type foundry and creative community inspired by the bold, futuristic aesthetics of Googie architecture. The club invites designers to reimagine the future of typography through the lens of its most visionary past.

Googie Type Club, as both a type foundry and a Googie community, primarily operates on Instagram. We will showcase typefaces, launch the #GoogieTypeClub type-sharing initiative, and explore 3D representations of type and how typography can serve as a medium for interaction and communication.

Poppy Pu is a multidisciplinary graphic designer based in Los Angeles, specializing in branding, typography, type design, motion, and 3D storytelling. Her work explores how design can move beyond static form to evoke emotion through dimensionality and interactivity. Her work has been recognized by the Type Directors Club, Young Ones ADC, and Communication Arts, and exhibited, including TDC71 in New York. She received the Distinction in Studio and Academic Excellence Scholarship at Otis.
