Here is a photo of me and my work featuring some assignments I completed at Otis.
With my major in Graphic Design and minors in Printmaking and Advertisement, I can
create unique work connecting narratives and communities!
About: "Food Forward is a nonprofit organization that brings fresh surplus fruits
and vegetables to people experiencing food insecurity. We’ve been on a mission to
fight hunger and reduce food waste since 2009, and with the help of supporters like
you, we will create a future where everyone in our communities has access to healthy
produce." Concept: Going off of Food Forward's already established vision I created
a brand and visual identity for the non-profit organization. Some keywords I focused
on were: friendly, approachable, and community. With this I created simple graphics
as well as a typeface to encompus everything that Food Forward stands for. From mascots
to rounding the corners, the tone I created comes off playful, hopeful, and eager
to look twoards the future and feed people across Los Angeles.
About: "La'au Lapa'au is a traditional Hawaiian medical practice that uses plants,
herbs, and spirituality to heal ailments and injuries." I researched, designed, typeset,
and bound this 200+ page publication. The publication features 20+ plants, a timeline,
a brochure, early history, and an interview with Isabella Aiona Abbott. Concept: I
wanted to create. a publication that bridges the fascinating gap between plants and
medicine. I learned that early Hawaiians utilized the plants they brought on their
canoe for medicine, weapons, buildings, tools, storage containers, and food. The
book features fold-out pages, a detailed diagram, and information on each plant.
The book is divided into sections and chapters.
About: Kokoro. Islands is a brand that puts the fun in function. Using art to communicate
social change, culture awareness, and fun doodles. The direct translation is "heart
islands"; this can be interpreted as "from me to you" or "handmade from my heart to
you." Concept: When I started making personal art to attend markets, this inspired
me to rebrand myself. I think back to what I want to accomplish with my brand. I
want my brand to represent what I stand for. I decided to do a fundraiser for the
Maui Fires and Palestine to support them through what is happening (2023-2024). With
my platform, I can reach a wider audience and encourage others to do and support the
same.
About: Bringing 2D into 3D space. This started as a digital drawing. I laid it out
on an 11x17 cardstock and printed it four times for CMYK printing. I screenprinted
a layer of gold on all of them to make the outline pop. Lastly, I made a polymer
plate for the cover. Concept: This is a self-portrait told through food. I also wanted
the piece to have dimensionality, so I made a gif and a flipbook version. The bottom
box represents where I was born: China: egg rolls, sticky rice, and shumai. The second
layer represents where I grew up: Hawaii: poke, musubis, and Manapuas. The top layer
and the box concept is the culture I grew up with, Japanese foods like sushi, takoyaki,
onigiri, and makizushi. The polymer plate is made up of the different patterns that
are also on the boxes.

About: App: creating a user-friendly experience for K-pop fans to trade merch with
eachother. Creating a safe and trustworthy space, that allows users to customize themes
and profiles aesthetic. Concept: Y2K and cyberpunk aesthetic is often seen in K-pop,
it comes back around even though we are always advacing. I wanted to hightlight this
concept and produce two zines complete with a tracklist, stickers, photocards and
more; giving off the feeling of opening a K-pop album. One of the probelms in the
K-pop community are scams. I wanted to create an app that is for trading, and lsiting
items. The camera scans and autheticates that what people are listing is offical merchandise.
Users recieve raitings and earn badges allowing them to customize their profile.

About: A reel about what I coded in Codepen and Visual Studio Code. Concept: I learned
how to make draggable items, readable web pages, custom cursors, marquees, animations,
use blending modes, and more.

About: I drew this animation frame by frame to depict an abstract version of human
connection. Concept: This is about personal experiences with adoption. I wanted to
express the love of letting go and accepting. I was inspired by a poem called "Two
Different Kinds of Love."
