Mullen is the recipient of numerous scholarships. Namely, The Duff Family Scholarship, Otis Presidential Scholarship, MAF LA Young Creatives Grant,The Group Scholarship, and Alan Cheung Memorial Scholarship. In 2019, Mullen curated her first solo exhibition at Stay Gallery in Downey, California. She then exhibited twice with Innerspace Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles. Her work is a part of private collections in Boston, Massachusetts, New York, New York, and Dallas, Texas. In November 2019, Post & Beam invited her to exhibit six unique works to represent a cultural perspective of Los Angeles. In 2021, Mullen showcased works with SoLA Contemporary Art Museum for their virtual pandemic fundraiser. Her short film, This New Mix Called, " ", premiered at Thuh Film Festival's first annual film festival in Long Beach, CA. Her work has appeared on Bel-Air, Season 1, Episode 6, and in the film, Roux's Blues. Recently, Superchief Gallery and Tlaloc Studio collaborated and invited Mullen to participate in their group show, Demasiado.
SUNI MULLEN’s writing has appeared on the cover of CR Fashion Book for Telfar and multiple blog posts for BLAK KANVAS Studio. She is the author of Residency Documents, a series of downloadable PDFs for artists to canon themselves from a stronger foundation. She has completed a year as a mentor and as a writing tutor at Otis College of Art and Design, lending her services to curating exhibitions, reading comprehension, and allocating time to answer questions about the university experience. Previously, Mullen wrote, edited, and reformatted biographies and CVs for national and international artists as an intern at Gavlak Gallery. Mullen maintained artists' files and invested time in extensive research at OCHI.
Continuing through the Fall, she will use her collaborative skills to sustain new relationships with her cohort inviting diverse minds on her podcast, HIGH CHROMA hosting critical conversations and providing a space for questions from open minds. Mullen will be studying to earn her Master’s Degree through Spring 2024 in Contemporary Art Practices.
