![Astrid Li](/about/our-work/annual-exhibition/2023/astrid-li/images/img_3521.jpg)
Astrid Li was born and raised in Shenzhen, China, in 1995. Growing up in a culturally rich environment ignited her passion for art from an early age. After completing her undergraduate studies at ArtCenter College of Design, she continued to pursue her creative ambitions at the Otis College of Art and Design, where she is set to graduate in May 2023. With a focus on fiber and mixed media, her works often explore the relationship between personal experiences, memory, and history, delving into the impact of emotions on these aspects of our lives. Through her art, Astrid seeks to inspire audiences to reflect on their own experiences and the world around them.
Astrid's works discuss the emotional journey of puzzle-solving and how it relates to creating art. The process involves releasing self-doubts, letting go, and building connections with emotions. Astrid uses keywords like adjectives and characteristics of different eras to integrate messages into her work. She believes that artwork is about connecting the viewer and the artist through an immersive experience that conveys sentiments that are difficult to express through writing. Astrid's art mainly consists of yarn, textile, and oil paintings, and she enjoys the uncertainty of piecing together diverse materials to create a perfect whole.
