Supporting Access. Expanding Opportunity.
The Internship Equity Fund provides financial support to Otis College students completing unpaid or underpaid internships. The fund helps offset costs through hourly wage support and transportation expenses to and from the internship.
Our goal is to remove financial barriers and ensure equitable access to meaningful professional opportunities for all students.
Funding Options
If a student’s internship is unpaid or offers less than minimum wage ($17.87/hr as of July 1, 2025 in the City of LA), students may apply to this fund to receive compensation to support their living expenses.
If there are costs related to commuting to and from the internship (public transit or Metro passes, parking fees, ride share or shuttle expenses, etc.) that are not covered by the Student Support Grant, a student may request the remaining amount from the Internship Equity Fund, within justification and with receipt of payment.
NOTE: There is a funding limit of $2,500 per student per academic year. Any request exceeding this number will still be reviewed, with the funding cap of $2,500. Funding begins from the day it is approved. Hourly wage support may be back-dated for up to four weeks with time cards that have been approved by the internship supervisor. Reimbursement for transportation expenses must be made no later than four weeks after the internship ends.
