Otis College Showcases Student Work During O‑Launch 2023 Event
The weekend-long, campus-wide event featured art and design work from every department.
May is always a vibrant, exciting time at Otis College of Art and Design. During O-Launch weekend, BFA and MFA students present new work, capstone projects, and open studios in a school-wide event for friends, family, alumni, and industry professionals. Recruiters from such companies as Mattel, Guess, and DreamWorks Animation ascended Ahmanson Hall, Galef Center for Fine Art, Mei-Lee Ney Design Studio, and the Anne Cole Building to meet and mingle with Otis graduates—future toy designers, illustrators, product designers, architects, fashion designers, painters, game designers, and more. Faculty members and mentors beamed alongside proud parents during the celebratory event. The first night of O-Launch—primarily an industry preview—culminated with the annual Fashion Show, during which projects assigned by such mentors as Jonathan Simkhai, Gap x Balenciaga, and Activision sashayed across the stage to a cheering audience. A majority of undergraduate and graduate students also have their work exhibited virtually. Below are photos highlighting this year’s special event.
