Otis College Report on the Creative Economy Launch Event at Sony Studios in Los Angeles


The 2025 edition of the
Otis College Report on the Creative Economy will be released with an event held at Snap Inc. headquarters in Santa Monica, supported by the Snap Foundation, on Thursday, May 27. The event will commence with a presentation of key findings by Patrick Adler and Taner Osman from Westwood Economics and Planning Associates, which partners with Otis College on the report. They also will provide an overview of the latest updates to the Otis Creative Economy Dashboard that launched last year. 

The program concludes with a panel discussion, “Design Hub L.A.: Powering the Creative Economy,” which will delve into Los Angeles’s role as a global design capital. Moderated by writer and broadcaster Frances Anderton, the panel also will include Barbara Bestor, Founder & Principal, Bestor Architecture; Chris Down, EVP, Chief Design Officer, Mattel, Inc.; Dana Flowers, Senior Creative Lead, Movies and Series, Amazon MGM Studios; and Jackson George, EVP/Head of Brand Creative, Disney+, and Co-head of Creative Marketing, Walt Disney Studios.

Now in its 18th year, the Otis College Report on the Creative Economy is a vital resource that explores the economic impact of creative industries in Los Angeles and California. First published in 2007, the report has evolved into a comprehensive research program, featuring in-depth studies, an interactive digital dashboard that showcases real-time data and trends across creative sectors, and a series of events offered in-person and online. This ongoing program, centered around the interactive dashboard, is complemented by timely research examining creative industries and emerging trends.

This free tool allows users to explore key trends and track changes across multiple creative sectors. It offers dynamic data and the ability to monitor creative economy trends in real time with both historical and recent data. Geographic insights enable users to explore how creative industries are performing across different regions of California. Lastly, customizable views enable users to filter the data to uncover economic insights that are most relevant to your research. 

Research conducted using the Otis Creative Economy Dashboard and various released reports has been used in articles by The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The Wrap, and Business Insider, among others. The report and dashboard are also essential resources for industry leaders, art institutions, and nonprofit organizations locally and nationally.
