Announcing the Launch of Otis College’s Newly Redesigned Website
Otis College unveils a newly redesigned website offering a modern, mobile-friendly design, simplified navigation, enhanced accessibility, and a more comprehensive look and feel that showcases the Otis brand.
Otis College of Art and Design announced on Monday, June 10, 2024 the launch of a newly redesigned website. It marks the first major redesign of the Otis website—which receives more than 800,000 sessions per year—since 2014.
Otis’s redesigned site reflects a collaborative process that involved feedback from students, staff, faculty, and alumni. The College’s new virtual presence also mirrors the growth and changing landscape of its degree programs, which have evolved in recent years to embrace the changing creative economy. The website exhibits a clean and modern design, improved functionality, enhanced visibility of Otis’s academic programs, and engaging visual content focused on the College’s diverse community, its Los Angeles location, and compelling student work.
“This new website is the culmination of many months and long hours of work from our
team,” said Lawrence Aldava, Vice President of Marketing. “We are proud of the results
and are confident that it will provide a more engaging and comprehensive presentation
of the mission and promise of Otis College. Websites play an important role in helping
prospective students and their families discover and ultimately enroll in an art and
design school. This redesign creates exciting opportunities to share our value proposition
in more captivating ways.”
The new site is responsive, meaning that it is designed to deliver users a great experience
regardless of their device type. The redesigned site also offers quick and easy access
to essential information for external audiences and features a greater emphasis on
visuals, with new videos, photos, and student work featured throughout.
To ensure that the new website follows best practices for accessibility and user experience, Otis College partnered with Carnegie Higher Education, a marketing and communications company that works exclusively in the educational field and whose clients include several art and design institutions. Voltaire Santos Miran, Carnegie Executive Vice President of Creative, said of the new website:
“From the very beginning, we had huge ambitions to create a website together that tells Otis' story as a creative powerhouse of art and design in a visually immersive and interactive way. We wanted to create a sense of place and community, amplify Otis' L.A. location and industry partnerships, and showcase the work of Otis students. And we also wanted the site to be highly intuitive to navigate for site visitors and flexible and scalable for content contributors on the backend. One of the great challenges of designing for creative institutions is striking that fine balance between lasting visual impact and functional usability. We couldn't be prouder of the result or more grateful for our partnership with Otis' team.”
The redesigned website offers current and prospective students, as well as alumni, a more engaging view into the College’s academic programs and student experience. “In many cases, the website is the first interaction a person has with Otis. It’s important to not only be visible, but to give our audiences an idea of what it’s like to be a student at Otis College and accurately convey our unique differentiators,” said Jackie Weissman, Director of Digital Marketing at Otis. “The redesigned website is a great step in improving the Otis experience for our audiences and provides a solid foundation for future growth in our digital marketing efforts.”
The web redesign project was coordinated by the College’s Communications and Marketing team, which worked closely with academic departments and administrative areas to create the site. Visitors are encouraged to explore the updated design at www.otis.edu. Website feedback can be submitted via our online form.
