Bio and Affiliation
Lynly Forrest, Lisa K. Weber, and Kelly Sue Milano have served as instructors for Comic Book Heroes for three years now. They began as mentors for the class originally taught by the inimitable Candice Lavin and took over the class in the wake of her passing in 2019. Lynly Forrest is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and brings years of business, sales, and IT expertise to the world of art. Lisa K Weber is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in NYC and has been a professional illustrator for the last 20 years. Following years as an actor, Kelly Sue Milano completed the UCLA Television Writing program and has worked as a professional writer for the last 10 years.
Together, they co-own and operate the indie label HexComix and produce HEX11—one of the most successful indie comics in production today. Created in 2014, HEX11 was an inaugural nominee of the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics and has been featured in the LA Times, the San Diego Tribune, the Mary Sue, the AV Club, and heavily spotlighted by Comixology. HexComix has exhibited at 29 comic cons since its inception, including San Diego and New York. Over 70,000 copies of HEX11 have been sold throughout 45 countries, and HexComix boasts an eclectic and popular web store.
Their combined experience and expertise in art, storytelling, scripting, composition, and business create a unique environment for all students enrolled in this studio class.
