Robert Squires was born in the heart of the Los Angeles suburb of South Gate. After Graduating High School, he served in the United States Air Force for ten years as a Fire Truck Mechanic Supervisor. After Robert was Honorably discharged from the military, he had a successful career as a Regional Fleet Manager for Dunbar Armored. Although he loved being a mechanic, he had a greater love for creating art fused with a desire to build working objects.
Robert began his educational path at Cerritos College, where he graduated with honors with an AA in drawing and painting. After completing Cerritos College, he enrolled in the Toy Program at Otis College of Art and Design, where he found his true passion for designing and Prototyping Toys. He graduated from Otis in 2019 With a BFA in Toy Design, graduating with Honors.
During his internship, Robert was hired by SkyRocket Toys to work in the Design Prototyping shop. He would 3D model, build and paint many prototypes that led to successful on-shelf products such as Blume Dolls, Blume Petal Pets, Chocolate Pen V2, Pomsies, Lumies, and Grumblies.
In 2021, Robert and his business partners formed Statement Studios LLC, an all-in-one shop specializing in Toy Design, Prototyping, Paint Masters, Showroom Design and Build, Graphic design, Package Design and Engineering, 3D Modeling, and many other offerings.
Currently, Robert not only works freelance for many Toy Companies, but is also working for Otis as a Lecturer teaching Design Prototyping 1 and 2. He has a great love for helping others learn from experience in building, painting, prototyping, and passing on the knowledge of tool use and working with your hands. He enjoys seeing students succeed and puts every ounce of himself into his craft.
