Architecture/Landscaper/Interiors Class of 2020 Installation DEEP-END

For the past 18 years Architecture/Landscape/Interiors graduating seniors have designed, fabricated, assembled and installed unique design/build environments for the Annual Exhibition in their required course, Constructions.

Prior to Otis’ campus closure due to COVID-19, 2020 graduating seniors - Bianca Costa, Zulma Juarez, Alexis Maher, Roni Nisim, Vanessa Quiles, Natasha Rusli, Ally Schaeffer and Rikako Sho -  had completed most design and documentation components necessary for the physical installation, including ordering 109 sheets of plywood that they had already moved and staged in preparation. Since lock down, seniors transformed their final design, DEEP-END, into a fully-detailed and rendered digital model.

In a co-requisite course, Presentation Techniques, seniors continued to develop and format their studio work for display in DEEP-END, just as they would have for the physical installation.

This gallery of images shows seniors during in the design process and several renderings of DEEP-END with (what would have been) prints of their studio projects formatted for the specific sizes and proportions of DEEP-END's display surfaces.

Schematic Design Review, February 11, 2020

Between January 14 and February 11, 2020, each senior generated initial design schemes (partis), worked in three teams on three selected partis, and worked in two teams on the two remaining partis - Towers and Landscape.
