This is a five day professional development program for K-16 teachers focused on place based education, service learning and sustainability.   • I Know What You Did This Summer is a series of bi-weekly gatherings in the Bolsky Gallery at Otis College of Art and Design organized around informal slideshow presentations by curators, artists, writers and producers in the Los Angeles area. Taking the form of a personal travelogue, presenters will share places, experiences, and encounters during summer travel near and far. I Know What You Did This Summer is an occasion to enjoy drinks and conversation among friends, colleagues and our community.

Dorit Cypis

Faculty member Dorit Cypis wins Guggenheim

Fine Arts faculty member Dorit Cypis won a 2014 Guggenheim Fellowship. From more than 3,000 applicants, she is one of 23 fine arts awardees. Cypis uses performative strategies, photography, and social sculpture to explore the psycho-physical-social aspects of history, knowledge and experience. At its heart, the work exposes both paradox and possibility.

Alumna Christina Sanchez (MFA Graduate Public Practice '12) and senior lecturer in Sculpture/New Genres Dorit Cypis are two of three winners of the inaugural grants in social practice awarded by SPArt, a new organization that supports works aimed at creating social change in the Los Angeles region. Each of three artists was awarded $10,000 toward the realization of a project that involves cooperation with communities and addresses or responds to current social issues and conditions.
