O-Launch ’22: Otis College Ceramic Student Sale

The Otis Ceramic Student Sale returns in person! This event holds historic meaning beginning with Peter Voulkos in the 1950s, Helen Watson and Robert Glover in the 1960s and 70s, Ralph Bacerra in the 1980s and 90s, and Joan Takayama-Ogawa since 2011. During the pandemic, the online Ceramic Sale continued the tradition. Email questions to takayama@otis.edu.

Growing Nutritious Food with Florence Nishida

Please join master gardener Florence Nishida as she teaches ceramic students how to grow nutritious food in their Victory Garden Planters as part of our positive efforts to address food insecurity during COVID-19.  As a result of generous donations, and the coordinated efforts of the Teaching and Learning Center, Institutional Advancement, and Technical Services, every ceramic student received Stay at Home Clay Kits, making this online project possible.

Senior Zack Benson Wins Jeanne Ward Foundation Scholarship as Part of Burgeoning Ceramics Program at Otis College

Zack Benson’s studio is puzzling. There’s no pottery wheel or work bench. There is, however, a metal rack loaded with power tools, computer components, video equipment, and an audio mixing board. There’s also a stack of books by French philosophers Henri Bergson and Jean Baudrillard, Italian media theorist Franco Berardi, and Oxford neuro-archeologist Lambros Malafouris.
