PST opens with animations by faculty member

10/03/11

The Getty's anticipated Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980 opened with a large-scale celebration on Sunday night, replete with music and animated projections on their building facades. Graduate Public Practice faculty member Kate Johnson, working with event planner J.Ben Bourgeois, created the animations, which included several images from the Woman's Building in the 1970s. Doin it in Public: Feminism and Art at the Woman's Building at Otis' Ben Maltz Gallery, documents this heady period of art making in downtown L.A. Through Jan 28. Work by faculty and alumni is featured in many of the PST exhibitions.
