NPR Rebels in Paradise features alumni

08/12/11

Today's NPR Madeleine Brand show featured author Hunter Drohojowska Philip's new book, Rebels in Paradise: The Los Angeles Art Scene and the 1960s. Drohojowska Philip, a former faculty member, surveys the emergence of artists such as alumni Robert Irwin and Billy Al Bengston, whose experimental art practices paved the path for the burgeoning art scene today in L.A. As she states, L.A. has more square feet of gallery exhibition space for contemporary art/art of the present by living artists than any other city in the world.
