The Class Marshal represents their academic major in the graduating class and is historically chosen by popular vote, faculty input, academic achievement or a combination of factors. The Class Marshal from each major also provides the student voice during the planning process by participating in Commencement planning meetings. The culmination of their experience as Class Marshal occurs during the Commencement ceremony in which each Marshal leads their class in during the procession.
