Eileen Cowin is an artist who sees living as a means to break boundaries, and psychology as a way to confront us with strange attitudes or to implicate us in seemingly self-imposed spatial confinements. –Art Papers April 2007 by Eve Wood

Hélène Sanguinetti, Hence This Cradle

Translated from the French by Ann Cefola

Hence,
                        From a cradle open
                                                under stars,
These fays.
At their mercy or to bless her?

Born in Marseilles, Hélène Sanguinetti is the author of De la main gauche, exploratrice; D’ici, de ce berceau; and Alparegho, pareil-à-rien. Hence This Cradle is Sanguinetti’s first book to appear in English. In her native France her work has been widely anthologized in such notable collections as 49 poètes and L’Année Poétique 2005. She has also collaborated with artist Anna Baranek on an artist’s book, O III. She lives in Arles.

Ann Cefola is the author of Sugaring (2007). Her translations have been published in Rhino and Paintbrush.
