  • Fine Arts presents a lecture by painter Mary Weatherford. She received her BA from Princeton and MFA from Bard. Weatherford has shown at David Kordansky Gallery in L.A., LAxART in L.A., Brennan & Griffin in New York, and Debs & Co in New York.  In addition, her work is included in collections of MoMA, LACMA, Hammer Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, and OCMA.

  • “Foregrounds” is a show exploring how we listen to sounds. It utilizes field recordings by blending songs and spoken word pieces with the soundscapes in which we listen to them – whether it be played along with Los Angeles traffic, the sound of a meal being prepared, or waves at the beach. Presented by DJ Derek (Corn), DJ Nasera (Alayon), DJ Max (Miles) of the Otis Radio class.

    The annual Scholarship Benefit and Fashion Show at the Beverly Hilton Hotel is L.A.'s largest runway show. Featuring student designs created with mentors during the 2013-14 year, the show raises $1 million for student scholarships. Awardees this year include Leon Max, Michael Egeck, and Isabel and Ruben Toledo.

Graduate Writing presents a reading by Ben Doller and Sandra Dollar. Ben is the author of three books, including Radio, Radio, which won the 2000 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets selected by Susan Howe (published under his former name, Doyle). His second book, FAQ: was published by Ahsahta Press in 2009, and his most recent book, Dead Ahead, was published by Fence Books in 2010. Doller is currently an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at UC San Diego, and vice-editor & designer of 1913.

Sandra Doller is the author of three books: Oriflamme, Chora, and Man Years. She also has two recent chapbooks: a translation of Éric Suchère'sMystérieuse, which won the 2012 Anomalous Press translation prize selected by Christian Hawkey, and Memory of the Prose Machine from Cut Bank Books. Her new work is called Leave Your Body Behind, a cross-genre piece that also functions off-the-page. She is currently Assistant Professor of Literature & Writing Studies at Cal St Univ San Marcos, and is the founder & editrice of 1913 Press &1913 a journal of forms.
