Continuing Education Course

Performative Painting

Explore the age-old tradition of telling stories through painting as you try out the innovative technique of merging painting with performance. During this hands-on course, students work out performance ideas while designing and creating their own performative paintings. Course covers how contemporary artists incorporate backdrop, set design, and other two-dimensional techniques in their videos or live performances. This unique course is offered in connection with the Three Solo Projects exhibition at Otis’ own Ben Maltz Gallery, artists Audrey Chan and Elana Mann of the collaborative duo Chan & Mann, and Chan’s Mannese Theater.

Prerequisite: XDWG1001 Drawing & Composition or equivalent knowledge

First class materials: Supply list provided at first class meeting.
