  • Professor Julia Czerniak is educated in both architecture and landscape architecture, and serves as Associate Dean at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University. Through her own design practice, CLEAR, and most recently as the former inaugural Director of UPSTATE: Syracuse’s SOA’s Center for Design, Research and Real-Estate, Julia’s  research and practice draw on the intersection of landscape and architecture.

  • Alumni from Otis, Art Center, and CalArts are invited to celebrate the holidays at our second annual alumni holiday mixer. Eat, drink, be merry, and enjoy live music! Alumni are invited to bring a guest, but this event is closed to the public.

Digital Design for Textiles


Utilizing knowledge gained in Textile/Surface Design program, this course focuses on how to digitize concepts and designs. Advanced techniques in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop are demonstrated as they relate to Surface Design. Preparing files for separations and production are also covered. Students take a design concept and create a digital group of repeat patterns suitable for their portfolio. This hands-on course is taught in the Otis computer lab and includes additional lab time on a sign-up basis at no additional cost.

Prerequisite: Textile/Surface Design IA & IB; Introduction to Digital Design

First class materials:A digital storage device 1 MB USB drive (Mac only,) CD-R/RW, Flash Drive, iPod, or other external Hard Drive
