In this course, students develop the technical skills and sculpting techniques to translate a two-dimensional concept sketch of the human figure into three-dimensional form. Through hands-on drawing and sculpting exercises, demonstration, and critique, students learn figure blocking, clay massing, armature construction, and modeling techniques to create realistic anatomical and costumed figure sculptures.
Prerequisite: Life Drawing experience
First class materials: 19”x24” bond paper pad, pencils (2B, 4B, 6B), kneaded eraser, drafting tape, drawing board.
