Developing Apps for Mobile Devices (online)

Applications or apps for mobile devices represent an expansive field that mixes interactivity with creativity and blends the lines between the digital and physical environments. In this course, students learn how to create applications for the iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android operating systems using the Corona Software Development Kit. Students will learn how to write code and create graphics for these mobile platforms. Course examines best practices when writing code, with an emphasis on making programming as accessible as possible for all students and emphasizes an understanding of the internal logic that can be applied to all programming languages. Also covers historical and contemporary examples of successful and unique applications (particularly games). This course will not use XCode, Java or Objective C. Please note: Course takes place completely online in an asynchronous environment. Material will be uploaded weekly on Monday evenings, 7:00pm (Pacific Time).
