    This course offers an in depth hands-on experience using egg tempera paint. Course covers the medium’s origins, recipes for mixing the paint from scratch as well as techniques for using the homemade paint. Students gain a deeper understanding of the historical, cultural, and material significance of the medium used by master artists for centuries, through hand-mixing colorful pigments with binders, learning creative painting approaches and lively in-class discussions. Painting techniques covered include glazing, scumbling, as well as experimental and alternative uses. Prerequisite: None First class materials: TBD
