The Otis Financial Aid Office provides assistance to all matriculated US citizens and permanent residents in financing their education. Grants, scholarships, campus employment, loans, and internet resources are among the methods by which you may cover all or a portion of the cost of attendance. We can help you determine the best way to graduate with the least debt and start your career on sound footing.

Financial Aid awards will be applied toward direct costs (tuition and registration fees first, material fees, parking, and any other relevant charges). Institutional grants and some Named Scholarship Awards can be used to pay tuition only. If you are due a refund after direct costs have been paid, you may use this money to pay for books and supplies, housing, transportation, etc.

You may apply for the following forms of financial aid:

1. Federal Pell Grant and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
2. Cal Grant from the State of California (California residents only)
3. Otis Institutional Grant
4. Federal Stafford Loans and plus (Parent) Loans
5. Federal and institutional work-study

How do I apply?

1. Obtain a personal identification pin at www.pin.ed.gov

2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The Otis school code is 001251. Prevent delays in processing by making sure that you answer all questions on the FAFSA completely and accurately; if the answer is zero, write “0”. Make sure that both you and your parent sign the FAFSA

What happens next?
Four to six weeks after you complete the FAFSA, the U.S. Department of Education will send a Student Aid Report to you for your records, and to the Otis Financial Aid Office. Shortly after that, an Otis Financial Aid Counselor will notify you if additional information is required, e.g., tax returns. If you receive a request from the Otis Financial Aid Office for additional information or documentation, respond immediately to avoid delays. If necessary tax forms have not yet been completed at the time you apply for financial aid, use estimated figures based on your W2s, 1099s or the previous year’s figures. When your file is complete, your eligibility for financial aid awards (including grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study) will be determined. Finally, you will receive a Financial Aid Award Letter, which will indicate each award and amount.
