  • Lucy Orta (b. Sutton Coldfield, UK, 1966) and Jorge Orta (b. Rosario, Argentina, 1953) founded Studio Orta in 1991. Lucy + Jorge Orta’s collaborative practice focuses on the social and ecological factors of environmental sustainability to realise major bodies of work employing drawing, sculpture, installation, object making, couture, painting and silkscreen printing, as well staging workshops, ephemeral interventions and performances.

    Rob Spillman is Editor and co-founder of Tin House, which has been honored in Best American Stories, Best American Essays, Best American Poetry, O’Henry Prize Stories, the Pushcart Prize Anthology and numerous other anthologies. He is also Executive Editor of Tin House Books and co-founder of the Tin House Literary Festival. His writing has appeared in BookForum, the Boston Review, Connoisseur, Details, GQ, Nerve, the New York Times Book Review, Rolling Stone, Salon, Spin, Sports Illustrated, Time, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and elsewhere.

Randall Lavender is a nationally and internationally exhibited artist whose painting and sculpture are included in numerous public and private collections, and have been reviewed or featured in dozens of articles, books, and catalogues. Professor Lavender joined the Otis faculty in 1983, following faculty appointments at Vanderbilt University, Claremont Graduate University, and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He served as Associate Chair of Otis’ Foundation Program for more than a decade before joining the College's Senior Team and serving as Interim co-Provost, Vice Provost, and Acting Provost. Lavender earned his M.F.A. at Claremont Graduate University and a B.A. from California State University, Fullerton. He has consulted for institutions nationally on issues of art/design in higher education, and has published essays and articles on art in higher education, educational psychology, contemporary culture, and best teaching practices in leading art education journals, including Studies in Art Education, Journal of Aesthetic Education, and Foundations in Art Theory (F.A.T.E.) in Review.
