  • LA/LA: Place and Practice is a two-day symposium organized by Scripps College, the Getty Foundation, the Getty Research Institute, and The San Diego Museum of Art in conjunction with Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA an initiative led by the Getty. Creative Action

 

This signature program offers project-based courses that match multidisciplinary teams of students with local and international community partners. Creative Action courses will introduce you to pressing environmental and social issues through partnerships with nonprofit organizations and public agencies. Through research, leadership, and collaboration, you will focus your creativity on real-world problems. These skills are essential to your career as an artist or designer.

Through collaborative projects, students learn to:

  • Use trans-disciplinary problem-solving skills, working as a team to conceptualize, analyze and define issues and solutions
  • Negotiate diverse public spheres
  • Plan and propose creative solutions for a specific context, informed by engagement with a community group, and when possible, implement projects
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams
